Bio: Michele Long
Michele Long's career began in Communications and medical manufacturing, but a pivotal moment came when her son was diagnosed with Autism at 18 months. This led her into direct support roles, starting as a teacher’s assistant for children with mental health needs. She continued working in inclusive preschool and kindergarten classrooms, contributing to an Oregon State study on integrated education that continues to inform research today.
For over a decade, she managed a team as a Deli Manager at WinCo, honing skills in leadership, scheduling, and operations. After her children graduated, she earned her BA in Human Services–Family & Children and took on the role of Registered Behavioral Technician, where she worked one-on-one with students with trauma and behavioral disorders. She also served as a Case Aid and now provides respite care for foster youth, collaborating with DCYF and CFSF.
What sets Michele apart is her lived experience—especially as a lifelong advocate for her son—and her ability to connect with families and systems alike. She is empathetic, organized, and deeply committed to improving outcomes for those she serves. She is ultimately focused on family and community well-being, and thrives on helping others.
