Bio: Angel Dickens
Angel began working as BT in 2019, and graduated with a Bachelors in Community Psychology from the University of Washington in Bothell, with the plan to attend graduate school and become a BCBA. Growing up with a cousin who was diagnosed with autism as an adult, Angel was inspired to help children develop skills and tools he wished his cousin had available in childhood. Angel has worked with a variety of families and collaborated with various other therapists for the goal of equity, autonomy, and self advocacy through child-led practices. At work, Angel supports clients with their communication, life skills, and barrier behaviors. The most rewarding aspects of being a BT for Angel are being there for clients when they are having a tough day, and seeing them become more and more independent and content. Through his experience working with neurodivergent children, Angel discovered that he too is autistic and has ADHD and has now been diagnosed. This realization has led Angel to not only better support his own sensory and communication needs, but also better empathize with clients and strengthen his neurodivergent affirming methods of practice. Outside of work, Angel enjoys spending time outside; various art forms such as ballet, makeup, and croquet; and bonding with his two loving cats.
